Ward 6 · Whitchurch-Stouffville
Top Five Platform for 2026
Five priorities to manage growth, keep our streets safe, support our downtown, grow our amenities, and spend every tax dollar with care.
Growth Management & Protecting Neighbourhood Character
Ward 6 continues to welcome new residents and absorb a significant share of Whitchurch-Stouffville's growth. Managing that growth while protecting the character of our established neighbourhoods is one of my highest priorities. I hear from residents concerned that aggressive development and poorly scaled infill could fundamentally change the suburban character that makes our community special.
Growth is inevitable — but losing our community's identity is not. I have advocated for smart, gentle density that creates additional housing options without overwhelming existing neighbourhoods, through thoughtfully designed, appropriately sized infill.
I have pushed for strong urban-design standards, appropriate building heights, meaningful transitions between new developments and existing homes, and architecture that respects the surrounding community. Development should fit within our neighbourhoods — not force neighbourhoods to adapt to development.
Traffic Safety, Speeding & Street Connectivity
Safety on our streets is non-negotiable — especially where our kids walk to school and play. I hear continuously from Ward 6 families about heavy traffic volumes, speeding drivers, and pedestrian safety risks along Main Street, in quiet neighbourhood corridors, and near local school zones. Increasingly this involves not just motor vehicles but light electric vehicles (LEVs).
My platform addresses these challenges directly through targeted traffic-calming: radar speed-display signs, raised crosswalks, speed humps, and narrowed lane designs to slow vehicles where it matters most, along with new bylaws on the safe use of LEVs.
I will also expand our active-transportation network — ensuring our multi-use trails become lit with solar lighting and fully connected, safely linking homes to neighbourhood elementary and secondary schools, local parks, and public-transit hubs.
Downtown Main Street Revitalization & Core Business Support
Stouffville Village's Main Street isn't just the heart of Stouffville — it runs straight through Ward 6. Persistent infrastructure repairs, road construction, and changing traffic flow put immense pressure on local business owners and nearby residents. A thriving, accessible core is vital to our town's economic health.
My focus will be holding Town Hall public works accountable for the timely, transparent, and efficient execution of Main Street reconstruction and beautification over the next two years, minimizing disruption to businesses and residents. As Chair of the Village of Stouffville Advisory Committee, I have advocated for proactive business support — you can already see expanded seasonal patio space and the pop-up community urban plaza.
Parking is imperative: I will work to add downtown parking by expanding current lots and/or securing a new lot, helping transform Main Street into a welcoming, bustling destination for every resident to enjoy.
Grow Parks, Recreation & Community Amenities
Ward 6 is the heart of our town's recreational hub, with facilities like the Stouffville Leisure Centre and Memorial Park. As our population grows, these spaces face heavy demand from growing families and seniors alike, and need to keep pace with our community's evolving needs.
I will continue to advocate for new critical capital funding — supporting new commercial development before residential to help fund upgrades — and press at Town Council for increased indoor swimming-pool capacity, modern ice-rink facilities, expanded drop-in fitness spaces, and fully accessible, modern playgrounds.
By prioritizing well-maintained neighbourhood sports fields and parks, we can ensure every resident — from toddlers to older adults — has safe, inclusive spaces to stay active, healthy, and connected.
Responsible Fiscal Management & Accessible Ward Representation
With rising everyday costs, every municipal tax dollar must be spent with care, purpose, and total transparency. Strong fiscal accountability is a top priority as our community grows, and my commitment is to listen, respond, and bring your voice to the budget table. I will keep working with economic development to attract new business taxes that help alleviate the burden on residential taxpayers.
My commitment to Ward 6 rests on balancing necessary investments in local infrastructure with stable, predictable property-tax rates. Beyond budget management, I promise an accessible, open-door approach to governance and continuous communication with residents.
You can trust me to be your approachable, dedicated voice at Town Council, ensuring Ward 6 priorities are always front and centre.
